Once you’ve qualified as an associate, your training won’t stop. In fact, there’s an ongoing training programme for all our fee earners that’s designed to develop your knowledge and hone your skills. Winner of The Lawyer HR Awards for Excellence in Training 2009, there’s plenty of opportunity to grow in a top-class environment after your Training Contract finishes.
A passport to success
Our Legal and Business Skills Passport scheme is for all our newly-qualified associates. It will ensure you all share the same level of knowledge in a broad range of legal and practice area-specific topics, and have a good grounding in soft skills.
Our Excel programme
After you’ve been qualified for three years, our Excel programme will help you develop the skills you’ll need to become one of tomorrow’s leading lawyers. You will receive training in all aspects of service delivery, from people and project management to client consulting skills. You’ll also learn about law firm finance and economics.
Developing as a Senior Solicitor
When you have five years’ experience under your belt, you can develop your skills even further on our Senior Solicitor Development Programme. It’s open to all senior associates and covers a range of training modules, from delegation and supervision to winning new business.
The CMS Academy
It’s also worth knowing that CMS is an official partner of the IMD business school in Lausanne, Switzerland. IMD is ranked Number 1 in the world in the Financial Times' ranking of leading providers of executive education. Here you’ll find The CMS Academy – where seminars and workshops on personal development, commercial and management skills are organised for partners and lawyers from CMS firms across Europe.
The CMS Academy has been created to build a shared training and development platform across the CMS group of firms. The Academy will become an important catalyst for better integration across our organisation, providing exciting opportunities for collaboration with our clients and our people.
Wherever possible, we involve clients in our workshop activities to help us to build our research base and experience.
