What a Vacation Scheme involves

Vacation Schemes offer you the opportunity to see how we work as a firm from the inside. These specially tailored programmes include a broad variety of activities, presentations and social events so you'll see what life is really like at CMS Cameron McKenna.

You’ll benefit from:

  • insightful presentations from senior team members about different practice areas
  • the chance to do real work, attending client meetings where possible, trips to courts and assisting with deals
  • the support of a trainee “buddy” and a fully qualified supervisor
  • a BPP Law School presentation on the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) and the Legal Practice Course (LPC)
  • the chance to give your own presentations as part of a group exercise.

You’ll also get to take part in a range of social activities. In the past, these have included:

  • a tour of the financial city
  • bowling at Bloomsbury Lanes, London
  • dinner at Gary Rhodes’ Tower 42 restaurant.

Vacation Schemes culminate in a Training Contract assessment centre on the penultimate day. Succeed in this and you will be offered a training contract with us. Law Society regulations permitting, we’ll tell you our decision the very next day.

What you need to do to apply

Firstly, don’t be backwards in coming forwards because all of our Vacation Schemes are very popular. Our London schemes are available during the Spring and Summer, and over the Summer in Bristol and Scotland. To apply, you’ll need 320 UCAS points and a 2:1 degree (or expected). We hope you get on board – we offer a high proportion of Vacation Schemers Training Contracts.  Schemes differ slightly between London, Bristol and Scotland.
